Some of the top talent in the nation will be in Enid at the NJCAA Division II World Series, which begins Saturday morning at David Allen Memorial Ballpark.
And much of that talent can be found on the Western Oklahoma State roster.
The top-ranked Pioneers feature five players hitting over the .400 mark and are batting .392 as a team.
Randolph Oduber tops the list with a .472 batting average, 26 homers and 78 RBI. Other top hitters are Andrelton Simmons (.463), Dover’s Eddie Cervantes (.426), Benshell Garcia (.417) and Wander Nunez (.407). The Pioneers have clobbered 130 home runs in 58 games.
The pitching staff is loaded with power arms, headed by Casey Sadler (9-1, 3.29 ERA), Jamaine Cotton (10-0, 2.56) and Levi Lewis (10-1, 2.59).
Second-ranked Frederick (Md.) Community College has talented arms at the top of the rotation in Mike Mitchell and Dan Dierdorff. Mitchell is 8-1 with a 1.83 ERA with 51 strikeouts in 59 innings. Dierdorff is 7-1 with a 2.30 ERA with 58 strikeouts in 62 innings. Mitchell and Dierdorff have combined to walk only 23 batters this season.
Brett Moreland leads the Cougars with a .486 batting average, 13 homers and 85 RBI. Alex Buccilli is batting .463.
Third-ranked LSU Eunice has a big hitter in Raph Rhymes, who is batting .485 with 12 homers and 85 RBI. The Bengals are led on the mound by Chance Mistric, who is 11-1 with a 3.62 ERA. Mistric has struck out 91 batters in 87 innings.
Sixth-ranked Parkland (Ill.) College, the defending national champions, qualified for the national tournament with a 10-9 win over Heartland (Ill.) College on Tuesday.
Parkland is led on the mound by a pair of nine-game winners in Danny Winkler and Nick Wittgren. Offensively the Cobras have T.J. McManus, who is hitting .435 with 12 homers and 76 RBI, and Kevin Kiermaier, who is batting .418 with 13 homers and 55 RBI. Kiermaier was the World Series MVP last year.
Iowa Central Community College, ranked No. 7 in the nation, has a big bat in Nick Judkins, who is batting .482 with 12 homers and 79 RBI. Ryan Keele has 16 homers and Nick Colwell is batting .410 for the Tritons.
Eighth-ranked Avery Point (Conn.) features Brett Shulick, who is 9-1 with a 2.25 ERA. Shulick has 70 strikeouts and just 17 walks in 64 innings. Sean Donatello is 8-0 with a 1.82 ERA.
Kyle Cummings leads the Pointers with a .414 batting average. Tyler McIntyre has 12 home runs.
Madison (Wis.) College is led on the mound by Tyler Jones, who is 9-1 with a 2.53 ERA. Lukas Marwitz (.423) and Tanner Varva (.419) lead the Wolfpack in batting, and Brent Kakwitch has 13 homers and 58 RBI.
Paradise Valley (Ariz.) Community College features a pair of talented pitchers in Matt Anderson and Jake Swift. Anderson is 6-2 with a 2.25 ERA while Swift is 8-2 with a 3.68 ERA. Third baseman Kyle Weber is coming off an MVP performance at the regional tournament.
Vincennes (Ind.) University is led by Jared Broughton, who is batting .434 with 17 homers and 57 RBI. Bryan Brudi (.415) and Casey VanWinkle (.418) also have been producing at the plate. The Blazers are led on the mound by Patrick Kraft, who is 7-0 with a 2.78 ERA.
Lenoir (N.C.) Community College is led by Andrew Manning’s .457 batting average.

Ticket information
Tournament passes are $30. Single-day tickets are $5. Senior citizens will be admitted on a two-for-one basis. Children age 12-under and fans with military identification will be admitted free.
