Lankford elected to leadership post in Congress

OKLAHOMA CITY — U.S. Rep. James Lankford if Edmond has been elected to a leadership post for the upcoming session of Congress.

The Republican who was just re-elected to a second term in the U.S. House was elected Wednesday as chairman of the House Republican Policy Committee for the 113th Congress.

The committee is used for Republican House members to develop policies and legislative proposals.

Lankford won re-election earlier this month with nearly 60 percent of the vote over Democrat Tom Guild and two independents.

Lankford says he'll gather policy ideas from all of his colleagues and explore "principled solutions to the problems facing our nation."

He replaces U.S. Rep. Tom Price of Georgia on the committee after Price did not see re-election to the post.
