Ex-church worker has hearing on sex charges

TULSA, Okla. — A former Oklahoma megachurch employee accused of using a computer to commit a sex crime is due in court for an arraignment.

Twenty-three-year-old Israel Shalom Castillo’s hearing is scheduled for today. Castillo is charged with making a lewd proposal to a minor and using a computer to commit a sex crime.

Castillo is one of two former employees of the Tulsa megachurch Victory Christian Center who are accused of sex crimes against a child.

The other former employee, 20-year-old Chris Denman, has a hearing scheduled for Oct. 11.

A judge entered not guilty pleas this week for five other church employees accused of waiting more than two weeks to report the alleged rape of a 13-year-old girl.

Online court records don’t list an attorney for Castillo.
