VAN BUREN, Ark. —
A Crawford County reserve deputy is accused of sexually assaulting a minor.
Police in El Reno, Okla., arrested 45-year-old Thomas Shawn Nelson after police in Van Buren asked agencies to watch for Nelson, who was believed to be traveling to California.
Nelson was caught on Interstate 40 outside of Oklahoma City.
Van Buren police were summoned after a juvenile was brought to a hospital for treatment early Sunday, according to news reports.
Police say Nelson is being held in the Canadian County jail in Oklahoma. He is expected to be extradited to Crawford County. It wasn’t immediately clear whether Nelson has a lawyer.
