Oklahoma, Colorado governors to report on 22-state CNG plan

OKLAHOMA CITY — The governors of Oklahoma and Colorado are releasing the results of a 22-state initiative designed to promote the use of compressed natural gas vehicles in state vehicle fleets.

Oklahoma Gov. Mary Fallin and Colorado Gov. John Hickenlooper will deliver their report Thursday at the 2012 Governor’s Energy Conference in Oklahoma City.

The two governors launched the initiative this year to increase the use of CNG vehicles in their states’ fleets as part of an effort to make the vehicles more affordable for car buyers.

They say driving CNG vehicles instead of cars and trucks powered by gasoline or diesel will save money, create a new demand for a fuel that is plentiful in the two states and across the U.S. and reduce the nation’s dependence on foreign oil.
