Jets drop pair to Rose St.

MIDWEST CITY — Rose State used two seventh-inning rallies to sweep a junior college baseball doubleheader from Northern Oklahoma College Enid Wednesday.

The Raiders rallied from a 5-1 deficit to win the second game, 6-5 when Ethan Davis’ bases-loaded single scored Jordan Hawkins with the winning run.

Rose State scored two runs in the final inning to win the first game, 3-2. Hawkins singled in Garrett Crain with two out for the game winner.

The losses dropped the Jets to 0-3 for the season. All three losses have been by one run.

“Those were tough losses today, but we’re getting close,” said NOC Enid assistant coach Scott Mansfield.

“We got real nice efforts out of (pitchers Zack) Postoak and (Garrett) Kelly. We’re not geting discouraged (by the one-run losses), it’s early. At this time of the year, the hitting usually is a little slow to come around.”

Kelly, in the opener, gave up only one run over 42⁄3 innings, allowing five hits while striking out one and walking one.

Postoak, in the nightcap, allowed three hits and one run over four innings, striking out three and not walking a batter.

Enid’s Joe Black went 2-for-3 with two RBI and a run scored to help the Raiders win the nightcap.

Former Plainsmen teammate Dillon Walker was 0-for-4.

NOC Enid will host Cloud County in a 2 p.m. doubleheader Saturday and a 1 p.m. doubleheader Sunday at David Allen Memorial Ballpark.
