Chisholm’s girls and boys will host Blackwell in a 6:30 p.m. doubleheader tonight in the Longhorns’ home and 89er West Conference opener.
Both teams beat Pioneer in their season openers Friday — the girls 54-32 behind Morgan Lawver’s 11 points and the boys 59-42 behind Caleb Lang’s 13 points.
Chisholm’s girls swept Blackwell last season. The boys teams split in conference play.
Blackwell’s boys will take a 3-0 record into the game with wins over Cushing, 43-35; Alva, 49-35; and Perry, 41-38. The girls are 0-3 with losses to Cushing, 80-25; Alva, 60-32; and Perry, 44-40.
Garber’s girls and boys will open play in the Frontier Shootout — the Lady Wolverines against Copan at 4 and the Wolverines against Crescent at 8.
Garber’s girls try to bounce back from a 50-48 overtime loss to Hennessey in their season opener Friday. Megan Terry and Madeline Leathers both had 16 points.
The boys beat Hennessey 51-48 in two overtimes behind Dallas Hunt’s 14 points.
Cimarron will open play in the Canton Tournament — the girls against defending Class 2A state champion Fairview at 7 and the boys against Calumet at 5:45 p.m.
The girls are coming off a 35-31 loss to Drummond, despite Caitlin Theilen’s 16 points.
The boys fell to Drummond 59-46. Logan Watkins and Patrick Williams both had 12 points for the Blazers.
