ENID —
Seth Floyd, who missed the last two games because of the death of his grandfather, went 4-for-4 with four RBI to lead Enid to a 12-2 win over Putnam City North in the final day of the Gladys Winters Memorial Tournament.
Tanner Leon, who allowed two runs over 32⁄3 innings, picked up his first win of the season with relief help from Lawson King and Floyd.
“Welcome back Seth Floyd,’’ said EHS coach James Peoples. “He gave us a shot in the arm.’’
Floyd had a homer in the first to help give the Plainsmen a 2-0 lead. He had a two-RBI triple in the fourth.
Blake Enmeier had two hits, including a triple for the Plainsmen, who had 12 hits on the night.
Mikey Bretado had an RBI single in the fifth when the Plainsmen scored five runs to take a 10-2 lead. Three runs came on wild pitches.
Leon, King and Floyd combined for a three-hitter. The Huskies scored twice in the fourth. They left the bases loaded in the first.
“Leon struggled at first, but once he figured out throwing strikes makes the game easier, he did a lot better,’’ Peoples said.
The Plainsmen, 6-5, went 3-1 in the tournament. EHS will host Edmond Memorial Thursday.
“I thought we played pretty well,’’ Peoples said. “This is something we needed to do to get back on the right track.’’
EHS will host Edmond Memorial Thursday at David Allen Memorial Ballpark.
