Oklahoma is 80-16-7 against archrival Oklahoma State in the Bedlam Series.
That’s as good a reason for thinking the Sooners will make it 81-16-7 Saturday against the Cowboys in Norman.
While one can question the point spread (OU by 10), intangibles are the biggest thing in the Sooners’ favor against the 9-2 Cowboys.
• The Sooners are 65-2 at home under Bob Stoops, including 29 straight. OU’s last three wins over OSU at Norman have been 52-9, 42-14 and 49-17.
• OU is a different team in Norman (5-0) than it has been in neutral (0-2) or true road games (1-3). Landry Jones has thrown 18 of his 23 touchdown passes at home. The crowd should give the struggling Sooners a lift.
• OU is 3-0 against OSU after a loss to Texas Tech.
• The pride factor. OSU is the last team OU wants to lose to.
Bob Stoops and his staff still have painful memories from losses to the Cowboys in 2001 and 2002.
• Enid’s Austin Box should be a solid replacement for the injured Ryan Reynolds at middle linebacker.
Box started five games last season and got better every week.
