Chisholm boosters

to meet tonight



Chisholm All-Sports Booster Club will meet at 5:15 p.m. Wednesday at the school cafeteria.



Swimming lessons

offered at YMCA



Denny Price Family YMCA will be taking sign-ups for evening swimming lessons until Sunday. Classes are available for ages six months and older.

Classes will be on Tuesdays and Thursdays for four weeks, beginning Nov. 24. All classes have certified instructors with lifeguards on duty. Preschool level classes have a 6-to-1 instructor-student ratio. Youth classes have a 8-to-1 ratio.

Salt Plains public

hunting to be closed



The public hunting area at Salt Plains National Wildlife Refuge will be closed at noon Friday until 2 p.m. Sunday.

The hunting area also will be closed at the same times the weekends of Nov. 28-30 and Dec. 4-6.

The hunting area will be closed to accommodate a controlled deer hunt. Deer hunting on the refuge and in the public hunting area is by permit only. The controlled deer hunt has become necessary to control the deer population, according to a news release from the refuge.



Runnels named MVC

newcomer of week



Former Watonga and Northern Oklahoma College Enid star Wayne Runnels, of Creighton, has been named the Missouri Valley Conference Newcomer of the Week.

Runnels had 16 points, nine rebounds and two assists in a recent game with No. 21 Dayton in 21 minutes off the bench.

He was 6-of-7 from the floor and 4-of-6 from the foul line.
