OBA’s Walker makes

All-State in volleyball

Oklahoma Bible Academy’s Rachel Walker has made the Small West All-State volleyball team.

Teammate Hilary Thomas was an alternate selection while Lauren Lauderdale was an honorable mention selection.

“I think it’s awesome,’’ said OBA coach James Ward. “Rachel making All-State was an obvious choice. She had a lot to do with our team getting to state the last two years. Hilary did a great job this year. She came real close to making it.’’

Enid wrestlers go to

Yukon tournament

Enid’s wrestlers will get their first taste of regular competition today at the Yukon Preseason Open Tournament.

Plainsmen coach Devin Golden plans to take anywhere from 10 to 13 wrestlers. Enid’s junior high will go to an open tournament at Kingfisher.

Enid had two second-place finishers at a takedown tournament at Tulsa Union last week — 119-pounder Michael Wilson and heavyweight Adon Lopez.

“We’re using this for evaluation and to see what we need to continue to work on,’’ Golden said. “I was pleased with our effort at Union. I’m anxious to see how much we improve this week.’’

The wrestlers will have their “Meet the Plainsmen’’ Night at 6 p.m. Thursday at the EHS cafeteria. The program will be for grade school through high school.

Parents are asked to bring either an entree, vegetable or dessert for the free pot luck supper.

Coaches from all the teams will speak.
