Wardlaw leads SNU against Rangers


Southern Nazarene, led by Okeene quarterback Brady Wardlaw, will be hosting Northwestern Oklahoma State in a 6 p.m. Central States Football League game tonight.

The Rangers are atop the CSFL standings with a 3-0 league record but NWOSU is ineligible for the league championship.

SNU, after a 20-19 loss to Langston last week, is at 2-1 in the CSFL and 4-4 overall.

Wardlaw, who guided the Whippets to the state championship in 2006, has completed 175 of 309 passes for 2,122 yards and 17 touchdowns. He’s thrown 11 interceptions. His younger brother, Brock, is a freshman wide receiver for the Rangers.

Kevin Brooks is Wardlaw’s top target with 56 catches for 774 yards and 6 TDs. Jacob Smith has 35 catches for 363 yards and 5 TDs.

NWOSU quarterback Kyle Jech, of Kingfisher, has completed 110 of 200 passes for 1,198 yards and 9 TDs. He’s thrown 5 interceptions.

Korey Williams has caught 45 passes for 549 yards and 2 TDs.

Nate Guillory went over the 1,000-yard mark rushing for the season after gaining 198 yards on the ground in a 64-9 rout of Bacone last week. He has rushed for 1,022 yards overall and has scored 7 TDs.

Lantz Mathers leads the Rangers defensive charge with 32 unassisted and 10 assisted tackles. He has 20.5 tackles for 71 yards in losses. NWOSU will be trying to win back-to-back games for the first time this season. The game can be heard on KPAK (97.5 FM).
