Tigers, Wolverines meet for B-1 crown
Call it this year’s Game of the Century.
Defending Class B state champion Garber, ranked No. 1 in Class B will host No. 2-ranked Canton tonight for the District B-1 championship.
The Wolverines have outscored opponents, 400-54 in racing off to an 8-0 start. No one has held Garber to under 40 points.
Canton, 8-0 for the first time in school history, has had only one close call — 22-20 against Geary last week. The Tigers have outscored opponents 345-92.
Garber’s defense has yet to allow a touchdown pass this season. Canton quarterback Colby Haigler has thrown 14 touchdown passes this season.
Canton’s defense has allowed only two TD passes this season. Garber quarterback Dylan Postier has thrown for 21 touchdown passes this season.
Postier can throw to three senior receivers — Hayden Vencl, Tyler Miller and Bryce Lamer.
Haigler has a number of favorite receivers in Mondy Cruz, Zach Blood and Josh Taylor.
The Wolverines will take a 22-game winning streak into the game
Garber is 10-0 against Canton since 1974, including wins of 34-8 for the district title and 26-14 in the state semifinals last season.
