Hennessey can end any speculation about the District A-1 race by beating Chisholm Friday night.
The Eagles (7-0) can clinch the district championship with a win over the Longhorns.
Oklahoma Bible Academy (6-1), which is still in the District A-1 championship mix, can clinch second place with a win over Mooreland (1-6). OBA is in the playoffs regardless.
Okeene (5-2) controls its destiny for third in the A-1 race. The Whippets would need to beat Hooker (0-7) and Beaver (4-3) the next two weeks.
Beaver’s 8-7 upset of Turpin throws fourth-place in a whirlwind.
Turpin, Texhoma and Beaver share third place at 4-3 with Pioneer a game behind at 3-4.
Texhoma travels to Turpin Friday. Beaver visits Pioneer.
If Texhoma wins, the Red Devils would be in excellent shape since it has wins over Beaver, Turpin and Pioneer. The first tiebreaker is head-to-head games.
Texhoma faces winless Hooker the next week.
If Turpin wins, the race goes down to the last week. All the contenders have tough games next week — Beaver faces Okeene, Turpin hosts Hennessey and Pioneer meets OBA.
Some other playoff outlooks going into Week 9:
District B-1
Garber (7-0) and Canton (6-0) play for the district championship Friday at Garber. The loser is assured of finishing second.
Cherokee, Pond Creek-Hunter and Laverne are tied for third at 3-3. Laverne, though, has wins over both the Chiefs and the Panthers. The Tigers would be third with wins over Waukomis and Merritt.
If Cherokee beats Ringwood and Pond Creek-Hunter beats Merritt, the two teams would likely be playing for fourth the 10th week of the season.
District A-2
Cashion (6-0) can clinch the championship with a win over Wellston. Watonga (5-1) can clinch second with a win over Luther (4-2).
2A-1Heritage Hall (5-0) can clinch the district championship with a win over John Marshall (3-2) Friday.
Kingfisher (4-1) and Newkirk (4-1) can set up a showdown for second place with wins over Perry (2-3) and St. Mary’s (1-4) respectively.
C-1: Shattuck (6-0) can clinch the district title with a win over Goodwell.
Boise City (5-1) and Forgan (5-1) will set up a meeting for second if Boise City beats Buffalo and Forgan beats Waynoka (4-2).
Shattuck, Boise City, Forgan and Waynoka are all headed for the playoffs.
District C-3
Timberlake (6-0) can clinch a tie for the district title with a win over Braman.The Tigers have a date with 6-1 Deer Creek-Lamont next week.
Seiling (5-1) can set itself up well for second with a win over Kremlin-Hillsdale (4-2). Covington-Douglas (3-3) can set up a possible meeting with Kremlin-Hillsdale for fourth with a win over Bartlesville Wesleyan Christian.
District 4A-1
Weatherford can clinch the championship with a win over Elk City (4-1). Woodward (2-3) needs a win over Douglass (3-2) to keep its playoff hopes alive.

Sooners looking for more playmakers
DeMarco Murray and Ryan Broyles entered the season as the proven playmakers for No. 7 Oklahoma. They’re not supposed to be the only ones making big plays, though.
Murray ran for a career-best 218 yards and two touchdowns and Broyles had 142 yards receiving with two scores in the Sooners’ season-opening win against Utah State on Saturday night.
