Eddie Cervantes tied the game in the seventh inning with a home run and won it with another homer in the ninth to give the Enid Majors a 6-5 victory over Burkburnett (Texas) on Monday at David Allen Memorial Ballpark.
Cervantes, who now leads Enid with eight home runs, also picked up the win on the mound, striking out the side in the top of the ninth. Cervantes improved to 4-0.
Enid starter Dillon Baldwin went eight innings, allowing five runs on nine hits.
Dylan Nave and Seth Floyd also had two hits for the Majors.
Jesse Pollard had the big blow for Burkburnett, a three-run homer in the sixth inning.
Enid (21-9) travels to Ada tonight for a nine-inning game.
In Edmond, the Enid AAA ballclub lost to Edmond Santa Fe 9-1. Enid’s Mikey Bretado had two hits and drove in a run.
The Area AAA team defeated Santa Fe 3-1. Cody Coats hit a two-run double. Aaron Roberts also had a double.
Andrew Spurrier got the win in six innings. Cody Austin got the save. The Area (15-10) hosts Boulder (Colo.) at 7 tonight at David Allen.
