The ground will thunder Saturday night as Enid Speedway Park kicks off the 2009 Firecracker Shootout. Hard-charging competitors will put their fast rides on the 3/8-mile track in anticipation of the big-money purses. Modifieds will be competing for $1,500 to win, with limited modifieds vying for $1,000 to win.
Platinum Motorsports drivers Mark Smith, Michael Smith and Joe Adams procured sponsorships for the pure stock class, resulting in a $500 payout for first, followed by $300 for second and $200 for third. Sponsors include R&M; Pipeline, Platinum, The Rocket 104.7, Dunsworth Machine, Speed Tech Automotive, Bob Dunlap Dozer Service, Wood Pipe Service, 4 Point Reclamation and Lampton Welding Supply.
Following the special card of racing, Enid Speedway Park will light up the skies of northern Enid with its annual fireworks extravaganza.
Rain make-up features are slated for July 11, with action starting at 6 p.m.
