Devin Pratt, a fifth-grader at Coolidge Elementary School, is on his way to Orlando, Fla.
Pratt and his family were notified Monday he had qualified for the national competition of the Junior NBA/WNBA Skills Chall-enge in Orlando May 14-17.
Pratt had won his age group (9-10) at a regional competition in Oklahoma City recently.
The 24 highest scores from regional competitions earned berths in the nationals.
“This is excellent,’’ said Pratt’s mother, Janice. “We’re going to have a lot of fun there.’’
The younger Pratt already received free tickets to an Oklahoma City Thunder game for having won the Oklahoma City contest. He was recognized at the game and had his picture put on the jumbotron at the Ford Center.
The Pratts haven’t gotten their full schedule yet, but the all-expenses paid trip includes free tickets to Universal Studios. Mrs. Pratt said they will be going to Disney World.
“They told us they have a lot of stuff planned for us,’’ she said.
Pratt plays on a team sponsored by H.E.S. Sports, headed by Samuel Hill. H.E.S. Sports was the local organizer of the contest.
