LANGSTON — Carlos Ross rushed for 152 yards and two touchdowns as No. 16 Langston upset No. 8 Northwestern Oklahoma State 28-14 in a Central States Football League game Saturday.
Ross had touchdown runs of 25 and 66 yards as the Lions ended the Rangers (5-2) five-game winning streak. Langston is now 7-2 overall and 2-0 in the CSFL.
It was NWOSU’s CSFL opener.
Langston held NWOSU to 55 yards rushing.
Quarterback Billy Barefield, who was the team’s leading rusher, had minus 39 yards on nine carries.
Barefield was 21 of 24 passing for 234 yards, including a 26-yard touchdown pass to Kent McDonald with 11:30 left in the third period to cut the Langston lead to 21-7.
Colt Oller scored on a one-yard run with 4:16 left in the third period to cut the lead to 21-14.
McDonald had 10 receptions for 107 yards.
Raytron Mayfield’s two-yard run with 8:16 remaining gave Langston an insurance score. Mayfield earlier caught a five-yard TD pass from Danny Lowery.
