Pacers face No. 2 Broken Arrow at MWC Festival

Enid’s softball team, coming off a 1-0 win over No. 7-ranked Mustang, will be going for bigger prey today at the Midwest City Festival.

The No. 4-ranked Pacers (11-1) will be facing No. 2-ranked Broken Arrow at 11 a.m. The game can be heard on KGWA Radio (960 AM). Enid will face unranked Nor-man North at 1 p.m.

EHS never has beaten Broken Arrow in softball. The Lady Tigers have won nine state championships.

Broken Arrow has won the last eight meetings by a combined score of 42-1.

The Pacers have outscored opponents 64-6 this season with nine of their wins coming by shutouts.

Enid coach Lee Linsen-meyer said the Pacers offense will be the key to the game. EHS batters struck out 10 times against Mustang.

“Broken Arrow is going to have even better pitching than what we saw today,’’ said Lin-senmeyer after the Mustang game. “They have some good hitters. We’re right up there with them defensively.

“If we work hard and make the adjustments we need to make hitting wise, I think we’re going to see a great game. The girls know what’s at stake. This is a great opportunity for us to beat them.’’

The adjustments, Linsen-meyer said, will be attacking pitches on the outside corner.

“My scouting reports say their best pitcher lives on the outside corner,’’ he said. “We’re going to be working on that in practice.’’
