Rangers face winless Panhandle St. today
Northwestern Oklahoma State University will look to rebound today against Oklahoma Panhandle State after being defeated at home by Langston, 52-35, last Saturday.
The Aggies are 0-4 this season, including a 69-6 loss to Emporia State, Kan., an 87-0 loss to Division-III power Pittsburg State, Kan., and a 69-0 drubbing last week at Colorado School of Mines. Kickoff will be at 1 p.m. at Carl Wooten field in Goodwell.
The Rangers’ defense has struggled this year against teams that throw the ball effectively. The “Black Cloud” defense gave up 403 passing yards to the Lions and 353 yards through the air to Southeastern Oklahoma State in a 44-13 loss.
However, the NWOSU defense performed brilliantly in the Rangers’ two victories this season: a 20-0 victory over Southern Nazarene and a 14-13 victory over Lindenwood, Mo., at the Wheat Bowl.
On offense, the Rangers (2-3) have relied heavily on running back Thez Robinson, who has carried 73 times for 444 yards (6.1 yards per carry) this season. Wide receiver Zach Edwards, a transfer from Central Oklahoma, has 25 receptions for 361 yards on the season.

The girls will have an abbreviated lineup of Riley Buckley, Jamie Frazier and Heather Capozzella.
“We don’t have any great expectations,” said Enid coach Joe Miranov. “We’ll see a quite a few of the teams we saw at (Oklahoma State) last week. This gives the guys an idea of what the course for state will be like.”
Joel Dutton, who was 11th at the Cowboy Jamboree last week, has a shot to finish in the top 10, Miranov said.

No. 1 runner Trevor Simmons won’t run today because he will be attending his grandfather’s funeral.
“We’re having a great season,” said Chisholm coach Joe Spurlock.
Hennessey’s girls, ranked No. 1 in Class A, should be the biggest challengers for the Lady Longhorns. Class A power Beaver should be among the top boys teams.
