ENID —
The Enid Plainsmen baseball program added two more players Wednesday to its list of those who have gone on to play college baseball.
Enid’s Dillon Walker and Joe Black signed letters of intent to play at Rose State College in Midwest City.
“I’m real proud of those two,” Enid coach James Peoples said. “They worked real hard all year and they were the leaders of this team.
“They did their jobs and I am very proud of their work ethic and doing what it takes. They earned the right to move on to the next level.”
Both Walker and Black began the process by attending a batting camp in Oklahoma City and meeting the assistants at Rose State College.
Rose State is graduating a large class of sophomores so playing time could be available early for both players.
“I looked at some other schools but Rose State was close to home and my family could come and watch me play,” Walker said. “It was a good fit for me. All the infield is graduating so I hope to get some playing time early.”
For Black, it’s about going to the next level and continuing to get better.
“This was the best place for me to get better and better my career,” Black said. “God gave me the ability to play at the next level and to go with confidence.
“I’ll play anywhere they need me. They have a lot of empty holes to fill.”
