ENID, Okla. —
The Class B Area III Tournament has been moved from Cleveland to Enid’s Expo Center Coliseum today.
Burlington and Deer Creek-Lamont’s girls will play for a state tournament berth at 2 p.m., followed by the Burlington and Coyle boys at 3:30.
KXLS (95.7 FM) will air both games.
At Chisholm, Pioneer’s boys (14-12) will play Crescent at 3:30 p.m. in a 2A regional losers bracket finals.
The Mustangs beat Hooker 82-68 to stay alive Saturday, while the Tigers (20-6) beat Rejoice Christian 49-48.
Crescent beat the Mustangs 67-58 on Dec. 13, but Pioneer was without 6-foot-8 sophomore Colby Koontz that night.
Pioneer is looking to go to the area for the 11th-straight year.
“We’ve gotten better,” Pioner coach Brandon Gallagher said. “This is a really tough regional — I wish we’d have gotten a little bit easier draw — but hopefully we can fight our way through and have an opportunity.”
“We don’t have anything to lose right now,” Gabriel said. “We’re the underdogs. Just come out throwing.”
KCRC (1390 AM) will broadcast the game.
Chisholm’s boys will be facing Perkins-Tryon at 11 a.m. at Perkins in the 3A regional losers bracket final.
The Longhorns (9-17) are coming off a 60-50 win over Nowata. The Demons are coming off a 62-38 win over Morris.
Chisholm’s two regional wins mark the first time this season the Longhorns have had back-to-back wins.
Chisholm is looking to go to the regionals for the first time since 2010.
The Lady Longhorns were eliminated in the regional losers bracket semifinals by Morris 64-55 Saturday night. Chisholm finished the season with a 13-13 record.
