Big Blue falls to top ballclub in Alabama

— The Enid High School Plainsmen got a taste of top-caliber baseball on Wednesday in the Oklahoma-Alabama Challenge.

Fairhope (Ala.), the top-ranked team in the state in Alabama’s top classification, rolled to an 11-1 victory.

“(Fairhope) is probably the caliber of Owasso or Broken Arrow in Oklahoma,’’ said Enid coach James Peoples. “You have to tip your hat to them. They are a good team. Their one through nine (in the batting order) swung it real well.’’

The Plainsmen got an RBI triple to right by Seth Floyd in the first inning, and that was all the Big Blue could muster.

Tanner Leon took the loss for the Plainsmen, who fell to 3-3 on the season.

Enid plays Daphne (Ala.) at 6:30 tonight in the final game of the tournament. Mike Phillips will pitch for Enid.
