ENID, Okla. — Garber’s girls won’t have to wait long before getting a chance to avenge Saturday’s 69-48 loss to Pond Creek-Hunter in the Skeltur Conference Tournament finals.

The Lady Wolverines visit Pond Creek-Hunter tonight in an attempt to try to get a share of the conference’s regular season title.

The Lady Panthers are 18-3 overall, and a perfect 5-0 in league play, while Garber is 15-4 overall and 4-1. The Lady Wolverines had a 12-game winning streak snapped Saturday.

Jade Jones scored a career-high 45 points Saturday in igniting the Pond Creek-Hunter attack. It was the third time in the last seven games she has scored 30 or more points.

Shealynn Garrett led the Lady Wolverines with 12 points.

Pond Creek-Hunter and Garber’s boys share the Skeltur lead with Drummond at 4-1. The Panthers and the Bulldogs will play Friday.

The Wolverines, 15-4 overall, won the Skeltur Tournament with a 53-51 squeaker over Pioneer. Garber has won seven straight, including a 68-56 win over the Panthers in the Skeltur semifinals. Eric Killman led the Wolverines in scoring in the tournament with 41 points.

The Panthers, 16-5 overall, are coming off back-to-back losses for the first time this season. Mac Styles led Pond Creek-Hunter in scoring at the Skeltur with 33 points.

In other county action (girls records listed first):

Chisholm (10-9, 6-13) at Blackwell (5-11, 12-4): Chisholm’s girls look to repeat a 60-40 win over the Lady Maroons Dec. 4. Megan Galusha had  a season-high 25 points in that game.

The boys look to avenge a 60-39 loss to the Maroons. Reid Weber led CHS in scoring with 12 points.

OBA (8-10, 8-10) at Frontier (16-6, 3-18): OBA’s girls are coming off a consolation championship at the Okeene Tournament. The Lady Trojans face a major challenge in the Lady Mustangs, who are ranked No. 2 in Class A and won at OBA 73-26 on Nov. 27.

OBA’s boys have lost four of their last five games, but pushed powerful Alva (54-48) and Hennessey (59-55) at the Okeene Tournament before falling. The Trojans beat Frontier — suffering through a rare losing season — 49-40 on Nov. 27. Preston Atwood had a season-high 22 points in that game.

Pioneer (7-10, 7-10) at Cimarron (12-10): Pioneer’s boys try to bounce back from the Skeltur finals loss. The Mustangs have won five of their past seven games. Cimarron, the Skeltur consolation champion, got 88 points from Logan Watkins in the tournament, including back-to-back 37-point games against Dover and Covington-Douglas.

Pioneer’s girls try to bounce back from a 62-35 loss to Waukomis in the Skeltur third-place game. Bayli Koontz had 34 points in the tournament. Cimarron has lost four straight. Caitlin Theilen had 38 points in two Skeltur Tournament games.

Covington-Douglas (3-16, 8-12) at Drummond (9-13, 19-3): Drummond’s boys need a win to set up a possible showdown with Pond Creek-Hunter Friday for the Skeltur conference title. The Bulldogs are riding the momentum of a 53-51 win over Pond Creek-Hunter in the third-place game at Skeltur behind 17 points from Brady Kokojan and 15 from Parker Jankey and Zak Wilson.

Covington-Douglas’ boys lost to Cimarron 68-48 in the Skeltur consolation finals. Quenten Thayer had 57 points in the tournament.

Covington-Douglas’ girls have lost five of their last six games. Drummond has lost eight of its past nine games.

Cherokee (10-10, 16-4) at Kremlin-Hillsdale (6-14, 1-19): Cherokee’s boys are a half-game back of Burlington in the Cherokee Strip Conference race at 4-1. The Chiefs are riding the momentum of a Cherokee Strip championship. The Broncs broke a 62-game losing streak by beating Timberlake 42-30 Saturday in the tournament’s seventh-place game. Cherokee beat Kremlin-Hillsdale 59-34 in the first round Thursday.

The Lady Chiefs beat the Lady Broncs 44-33 in the tournament consolation semifinals Friday. Kremlin-Hillsdale broke a five-game losing streak by beating Ringwood 56-54 Saturday.
