ENID —
Shawn Hunter pitched 51⁄3 innings of scoreless relief as Northern Oklahoma College rallied past Longview (Mo.), 13-5 in junior college baseball Sunday at David Allen Memorial Ballpark.
Hunter allowed only four hits and did not walk a batter after coming into the game with the Jets trailing 5-2. Forty-three out of his 60 pitches were for strikes. He threw first-pitch strikes to 17 of the 20 batters he faced.
“I’m not surprised at all,’’ said NOC Enid coach Raydon Leaton. “We have talked about those guys coming out of the pen and slamming things down, and he did that.’’
NOC Enid starter Garrett Kelly allowed eight hits over 32⁄3 innings. He gave up five runs, three of which were earned. He struck out three and walked two.
“Garrett competed but, he didn’t have his best stuff,’’ Leaton said. “I think Shawn, being a left-hander, changed up their rhythm some. He challenged them and kept us in the game. He threw real well.’’
The Jets broke the game open with five runs in the fourth, followed by one in the fifth, three in the seventh and two in the eighth.
Every NOC Enid starter had at least one hit. The Jets had 16 hits on the day, including a home run and a double by Chris Faulkner, two doubles by Dusty Harper and doubles by Logan Bradley and Tanner Cruts.
Faulkner had three RBI with a two-run homer in the first and an RBI double in the fourth. Harper had an RBI double in the seventh and a two-RBI double in the eighth.
Blake Callaway had three hits, scored twice and drove in two runs. J.R. Head scored three runs and stole two bases. He had an RBI single in the fourth.
Cruts and Logan Glasgow both had two hits and an RBI. David Menger drove in a run with a sacrifice in the fifth.
“The more pitches, you see, the better your rhythm and timing are going to be,’’ said Leaton about the hitting onslaught. “We got the barrel on the baseball.’’
The Jets will host Independence, Kan., in a 1 p.m. doubleheader Tuesday.

Jackson signs with Mid-America Christian
Jemarcus Jackson signed a letter of intent to play basketball on a scholarship at NAIA Division I Mid-America Christian University in Oklahoma City on Monday, ending a long wait for the Enid High senior, and a longer one for his nerves.
Jackson already was sweating thanks to a weighty training session just before his signing ceremony at the Enid High School food court, but that wasn’t the only reason he was “sweating like a dog” as he filled out the paperwork. -
