Enforcers kick off

season tonight

Enid Enforcers will begin their Central Football League season at 7 tonight when they host the Oklahoma Force at D. Bruce Selby Stadium.

The game is part of a doubleheader with the Joplin Crusaders — who lost to the Enforcers 28-21 in last year’s title game — facing the Northern Oklahoma Rufnex at 3 p.m.

Admission is $7. Children under 10 are free. Dollar hamburgers and hot dogs will be sold all day.

Enforcers player-owner Mark Timberlake said all the players are back from last year’s championship team. Former Northwestern Oklahoma State star Al Hunt will quarterback. Coursey Young, one of the Enforcers’ quarterbacks last season, has moved back to running back, his natural position.

The Enforcers beat the Oklahoma Force 43-7 last season.

“They have some good coaches and good athletes,’’ said Timberlake. “We have been real fortunate we have had some real good athletes come through Enid.’’

Prammanasudh 12 back

at LPGA Founders Cup

PHOENIX (AP) — Jee Young Lee birdied three of the last four holes to take a one-stroke lead over Ai Miyazato on another hot day at the LPGA Founders Cup.

Lee, the South Korean player who won the tour’s 2005 South Korean event, had a bogey-free 8-under 64 on Friday to reach 15-under 129 and break the tournament 36-hole record. She played in the morning wave before the temperature climbed into the low 90s at Desert Ridge.

Enid’s Stacy Prammanasudh shot a 72 to be at 141 after 36 holes. Miyazato bogeyed her final hole for a 67 a day after shooting a tournament-record 63. The Japanese star is playing her first event since sustaining a whiplash injury three weeks ago in a five-vehicle crash in Thailand.

Third-ranked Stacy Lewis, coming off a victory two weeks ago in Singapore, was four strokes back after a 65.
