EHS thinclads go to Arizona

ENID, Okla. — Enid coach Joe Miranov sees today’s Ardmore meet as the real first track meet for the Plainsmen and Pacers.

The EHS teams have recently battled the cold at both Edmond and Owasso. The Plainsmen also were without many of their key performers at Owasso.

“This is the first time we have had some good weather,’’ Miranov said. “That should help us out. There shouldn’t be any excuses at all about it being too cold or too windy.’’

Enid’s boys will run the 4x200 for the first time this season. Miranov is not sure who will run that event. He still is experimenting with getting the right groups together.

“This is a good meet for our young guys to try some different things to see how they fit in,’’ Miranov said.

The Pacers have been solid in the field events so far with shot putter Ellanah Schneider, discus thrower Lizzy Grothe and high jumper Macy Adams having placed in every meet so far.

“Ellanah was a girl who was going event to event, but I think she’s found her home in the shot put,’’ Miranov said.

This will be Enid’s last meet until March 30. EHS will have workouts on a voluntary basis next week during spring break.

“The kids need to get competitive in this one,’’ Miranov said.
