B-1 Final set for Saturday at SWOSU
Laverne and Pond Creek-Hunter’s rematch for the Class B state championship will be played at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Southwestern Oklahoma State.
The Tigers, ranked No. 1 in Class B all season, beat Pond Creek-Hunter 36-18 at the Panthers’ field on Nov. 2.
It’s the third time in the last five years two District B-1 teams have met for the state title.
Garber’s titles in 2008 and 2009 came at the expense of district foes Laverne and Canton.
Laverne beat Rejoice Christian 48-8 in the semifinals while the Panthers mercy ruled Fox 52-0.
No. 1-ranked Kingfisher will face Seminole in a 7:30 p.m. Class 3A semifinal at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at Putnam City High School.
The Yellowjackets beat Stigler 41-12 in the quarterfinals while Seminole eliminated Metro Christian 34-28.
Enid will be hosting the Class A semifinal between Texhoma and Ringling at 1:30 p.m. Saturday.
Ringling upset defending state champion Wayne 40-33 in the quarterfinals while Texhoma ousted Elmore City, 26-14.
Enid baseball benefit dinner slated Tuesday
Enid Public Schools’ baseball program is hosting a hamburger dinner at 6 p.m. Tuesday for the family of Taran Black at the Enid High School food court.
Donations will be accepted and all proceeds will benefit the Black family. A short parent club meeting will follow.

Prep football playoff highlights on Express
Highlights of the Fox/Pond Creek-Hunter Class B state semifinal football playoff game will be shown on the “Oklahoma High School Sports Express’’ at 10:30 p.m. Sunday on KOKH (Channel 8, Suddenlink).
Highlights of the 3A quarterfinal between Stigler and Kingfisher will be shown as well as a segment on Burlington’s girls 111-103 three-overtime win over Lomega.
The 6A state cross country meet will be featured as well.
