MIAMI — —
Four home runs by Northern Oklahoma College Enid couldn’t overcome nine walks issued by Jets pitchers in a 10-6 loss to Northeastern A&M Thursday.
The loss dropped the Jets to 8-6.
Christian Faulkner, Blake Callaway, Dusty Harper and Tanner Cruts all homered for the Jets on a day where the wind was blowing out to left, but in to rightfield.
Faulkner was 3-for-4 with an RBI for the Jets. He scored twice. The Jets scored twice in the second and seventh, and once in the fifth and ninth.
Harper was 2-for-5 with two RBI while Cruts was 2-for-3 with two RBI.
Kevin Meyers was 3-for-4 with four RBI for the Norsemen, who scored a run in the first and fourth, three in the third and eighth and two in the sixth inning.
Mark Podias was 2-for-5 with three RBI for NEO. Samuel Groleau had a solo home run.
NOC Enid starter Mitchell Bro allowed eight hits over 31⁄3 innings. He allowed five runs, all earned. The Jets bullpen allowed nine walks in the final 42⁄3 innings.
“That’s how it goes sometimes,’’ said Jets assistant coach Scott Mansfield. “Some days you have offense, some days you have pitching, and some days you have both. Today was just a day we had offense.
“The umpire had a small strike zone, but that’s no excuse. Our pitchers fell behind too often. It’s hard to work when you fall behind.’’
NOC Enid will host Dodge City for two Tuesday.
