MIDWEST CITY— —
It was a “Black’’ day for Enid baseball Thursday.
Which meant bad news for Midwest City.
Plainsmen junior center fielder Joe Black drove in four runs, including a three-run homer in the second, as Enid run-ruled the Bombers 10-1 on the road Thursday.
“Joe is swinging the bat well,’’ said Enid coach James Peoples. “Everybody was swinging it well today.’’
Erick Ramirez went 3-for-3 for the Plainsmen as Enid pounded out nine hits and left only two runners on base.
The win boosted the Plainsmen’s record to 14-10 overall and avenged a 9-7 loss to Midwest City last week at the Stillwater Tournament.
Enid will entertain Moore at 7 tonight at David Allen Memorial Ballpark. Tanner Leon will pitch for the Plainsmen.
Plainsmen right-hander Christian Lafontan raised his record to 5-0, allowing four hits while striking out five and walking four. The Bombers’ run was unearned.
Lawson King threw a scoreless inning in relief after Lafontan walked the lead-off hitter. The Bombers left six runners on base.
The Plainsmen gave Lafontan all the support he would need with two runs in the first. Miguel Bretado had a bases-loaded two RBI double, scoring Brady Baugh, who walked and Seth Floyd, who was hit by a pitch. Black’s three-run homer in the second scored DillonWalker, who had singled and Baugh, who walked.
The Plainsmen made it 10-0 with five runs in the third. Blake Ferguson had a bases-loaded walk to score the first run.
Joe Phillips followed with a two-RBI single. Baugh singled in a run while Black got his fourth RBI of the day with a fielder’s choice groundout.
Midwest City’s run in the fourth came on a single, an error and a ground out.
