ENID — Brock Enmeier hit his first home run of the season as the Enid Plainsmen powered past the OKC Broncos 19-1 on Monday. The game ended in the fifth inning due to the run rule.

Enmeier blasted a three-run homer to highlight Enid’s 11-run second inning.

Colter LeGrant had two doubles and knocked in four runs. Eddie Ramirez also had two doubles for the Plainsmen, who knocked out 13 hits. Seth Floyd had two hits, including a double, as the Plainsmen scored a season high in runs.

Christian Lafontan was the winning pitcher, allowing three hits with five strikeouts in three innings. Nick Keeling pitched the final two innings.

Enid (11-8) travels to Broken Arrow today. Tanner Leon will start on the mound for Enid.

The Plainsmen open play in the Stillwater Tournament on Wednesday against Skiatook.



Enid track teams travel to Ponca City Invitational



Enid’s boys will try to finalize their relay teams at today’s Ponca City Invitational track meet.

The Plainsmen plan to enter two teams in each of the three relays — 400-meter, 1,600-meter and 3,200-meter. EHS was fourth in the 400, second in the 1,600 and fifth in the 3,200 at last week’s Yukon Invitational.

“We’re going to be doing a lot of experimenting,’’ said Enid coach Joe Miranov. “We have about eight to 10 boys who are about at the same speed and we want to give them all a chance to see what they can do.’’

Miranov wants his relays finalized by next week’s Centennial Conference meet.

Kaitlyn Belisle is seeking her fourth straight win in the 1,600 and 3,200 meters. She may not run in the 1,600 or 3,200-meter relays to rest an tendon injury.

“We’re trying to nurse that along,’’ Miranov said. “We don’t want to do anything that would jeopardize her chances in the bigger meets.’’

Kiandre Glasgow has placed in the top three in the last four meets in the long jump. Three of those were leaps of 20 feet, 8 inches.

“Once he gets his takeoff down, he has a chance to be one of the top guys in the state,’’ Miranov said.

Miranov said the field should be strong. Putnam City, Norman North and Muskogee are expected to be in the field.



Enid boys tennis team places 4th at Broken Arrow



Enid’s No. 2 doubles team of Gibson Rose and Matt Worrell placed second, helping the Plainsmen to a fourth-place finish Monday in the Broken Arrow Tournament.

Rose and Worrell won a split set in the semifinals before falling 6-2, 6-2 in the finals to the Edmond Memorial team.

Tulsa Union won the event, followed by Edmond North and Jenks. Enid out-pointed Edmond Memorial, Broken Arrow, Edmond Santa Fe and Tahlequah.

“This was a tough competition with some of the better teams in 6A,’’ said Enid coach Darrell Herndon.

Enid’s girls team will compete in the Broken Arrow Tournament today.
