NOC Enid takes pair from Redlands CC

EL RENO  – It was a successful trip to El Reno Monday as NOC Enid swept Redlands Community College.

The Enid Lady Jets completed a regular-season sweep Monday over Redlands Community College with a dominating 72-43 victory over the Lady Cougars in El Reno, while the men also continued to roll, winning their fourth straight, and sixth of their last eight, defeating the Cougars, 91-75.

The 10th-ranked Lady Jets poured it on early, racing out to a 38-19 halftime lead and never looked back in recording their ninth straight victory. The win raises their record to 18-2 overall, including a perfect 9-0 to maintain first place in Oklahoma Collegiate Athletic Conference play. The loss dropped Redlands to 4-6 in the OCAC.

It was the second victory this season  for the Lady Jets over Redlands, which defeated the Lady Cougars at home 60-45 Nov. 21.

Chelsea Bates had a season-high 20 points for NOC Enid. Bates was joined in double-digit scoring by Marisha Wallace (13) and Ashyln Briegge (12).

Wallace’s 13 points snapped a streak of four straight games of 22 or more points for the freshman forward, dating back to NOC Enid’s 80-45 win over Western on Jan. 16.

During their current nine-game winning streak, the Lady Jets have outscored their opposition by an average of 25 points per game.

NOC ENID 91, REDLANDS 75 (M)

Kyndall Dudley had a game-high 23 points as the Jets downed Redlands 91-75, avenging an 82-80 loss to the Cougars at home on Nov. 21.

Joining Dudley in double-digit scoring was Trey Cohee (14), Xavier McClish (14) and Jeremey Espinoza (13).

The Jets (14-6 overall, 6-3 conference) jumped out to a 14-point first-half advantage behind a strong early effort on both offense and defense.

“We defended really well,” said Jets assistant coach Ryan Mahoney. “We played with intensity and our team chemistry is great right now.

“We’re really happy with the way the team is coming together. Our bench is contributing and we’re playing with some real energy.”

NOC Enid returns home Thursday to the Mabee Center for a men’s-women’s doubleheader against NEO.

    A tip of the hat to Murray State College for winning the Plains District tournament this weekend to assure there will be an Oklahoma team in the upcoming NJCAA Division II World Series at David Allen Memorial Ballpark.
    The Aggies, who were 5-0 against Northern Oklahoma College Enid this season, beat MCC-Longview 14-7 in the district championship game to take a 41-21 record into the tournament.
    They are a team that should be easy for Enid fans to adopt as their own.
