ENID — OKLAHOMA CITY — Courtney Chelf scored 17 points and Rani Melvin added 16 as the Enid Pacers had their most productive offensive night of the season in a 62-38 win over Oklahoma City Harding Charter Prep on Friday.
The Plainsmen could cry foul after a 66-57 loss to the Eagles. Harding was 26-of-39 from the foul line compared to 8-of-13 for the Plainsmen (11-7).
Enid’s girls (10-8) delivered an early knockout as they used a 15-0 run early in the first period to take a 15-4 lead.
The Pacers’ previous high offensive output was 55 points against Lawton Eisenhower Dec. 18 and Western Heights Jan. 22.
Enid was 21-of-47 from the field for 45 percent and 17-of-27 from the line. Chelf and Melvin each had 11 points in leading Enid to a 37-15 halftime lead.
“The key was our press,’’ said Enid assistant coach Robb Mills. “They turned it over quite a bit and we were able to get quite a few layups off it.’’
“They couldn’t handle pressure at all,’’ said Enid head coach Layne Jones. “When we worked hard, we were definitely the better basketball team.’’
The Pacers backed off at the start of the second half but went back to the press when Harding opened the second half with a 14-0 run.
Enid finished the third quarter with a 12-0 run to take a commanding 49-29 advantage.

At one point, Enid had 30 fouls compared to eight for the Eagles.
Assistant coach Billy Karr said he had no comment about the officiating.
“We had our chances,’’ he said. “We were up nine and we didn’t capitalize, but it’s hard to guard them on the free throw line.’’
The Eagles took advantage of the foul disparity to outscore the Plainsmen 16-6 in the final four minutes.
Chris Fitzpatrick gave Enid its final lead at 51-50 but Harding scored eight straight points to take a 58-51 advantage. The Eagles led by as many as 14 late in the game.
Alex Patterson hit a 3-pointer for the last of his game-high 21 points to give the Plainsmen a 49-40 lead with seven minutes remaining.
The Eagles went on a 10-0 spurt to take a 50-49 lead after a follow shot by Shontrell Scott with 4:49 remaining.
Fitzpatrick had a season-low 11 points, thanks to sitting out most of the first half after getting three early fouls. Clint Gamble had 11 points before fouling out.
It was the third straight loss for the Plainsmen and the fourth in the team’s last five games.
The Pacers and Plainsmen will be back in action Tuesday at Stillwater.
