Food, highlight Festival of Stars

The stars of Enid will shine next month as Enid Public School Foundation hosts its annual Festival of Stars event.

The family event is scheduled from 5-8 p.m. May 7 at Humphrey Heritage Village, located next to the Museum of the Cherokee Strip, 507 S. 4th. Enid High School will serve as the rain location.

EPSF is a non-profit organization operated by a volunteer board of trustees, which supports Enid Public Schools. Proceeds from Festival of Stars, as well as other fundraisers, benefit the organization’s Grants-To-Teachers program, which provides as much as $30,000 in materials and programs to schools annually.

“Festival of the Stars is an incredible combination of entertainment, food and community,” foundation president Jed Phelps said. “The festival celebrates Enid Public Schools’ student talents and Enid’s fine foods, all to benefit the foundation.”

Festival of Stars includes an evening of musical performances featuring EPS students of all ages. Bands, orchestras, choirs and dance groups will take the stage at three different venues — the schoolhouse, the church and the gazebo.

The event also features “Taste of Enid,” a food fair that allows ticket holders to enjoy cuisine found at local restaurants and eateries. This year Advance Food Co. will provide grilled hamburgers. Local vendors will share a selection of side dishes, desserts and specialty items.

“Community members look forward to attending each year, not only because it is a fun family event but because they know the proceeds find their way into the classrooms of Enid Public Schools in the way of grants to teachers,” Phelps said. “Festival of Stars is a wonderful way to support Enid Public Schools and the Foundation.”

Tickets are $5. The cost includes admission and two food coupons, which can be used at food fair booths. Additional food coupons can be purchased for $1. Tickets can be purchased at Dillingham Insurance or from board of trustee members. Tickets also will be available at the gate.

Taste of Enid sponsors in-clude Advance Food, Carl’s Jr., Chick-fil-A, Pastimes, Pizza Hut and Okie Joe’s Nuthouse.
