ENID, Okla. —
Before you to your polling location, please consider a few things before giving away your money.
Is your take-home pay lower than last year’s (tax hike)?
Do you want to pay 8.85 percent on a gallon of milk, a loaf of bread or a dozen eggs and everything else (tax hike)?
Gas is $3.64 a gallon and rising!
Do you have plenty of money left over after paying your bills to pay more in taxes?
When was the last time you heard of a “temporary tax”?
When was the last time you heard of a government project on time and on budget?
From the Enid News & Eagle, April 7, 2011: “In August 2010 Enid voters narrowly defeated a city of Enid redevelopment bond election that would have raised $20 million through ad valorem taxes for a downtown renovation project.”
Now, though the Gateway Enid vote failed, the city has continued with its share of the project.
Enid City Commission has approved plans for the $20 million Enid Renaissance project to build a new event center downtown and renovate Convention Hall.
From the ENE, Oct. 25, 2012: “Brick-and-mortar costs for the Enid Event Center and renovation of Convention Hall remain around $24 million, but other enhancements will grow the project’s total costs to more than $34 million, according to city records.”
Do you trust our city government?
$50 million for parks ... really?
Vote no more taxes March 5.
