August was full of activity.
Concerns for safety: Schools are back in session, so watch for children in and out of school zones. Slow down and pay attention when driving near school buses and in school zones or when attending school activities.
The jail booked in 363 people, 263 men and 100 women. The average daily population was 25l8 inmates.
Numerous traffic-related arrests were made by this agency including 11 DUI arrests and four other alcohol-related arrests. Deputies sent 36 affidavits to the District Attorney Office to get criminal charges filed.
The county was hit hard in August with burglaries and equipment thefts as well as seven arson fires. Deputies working with the State Fire Marshall’s Office have developed several leads and suspects, but continues to need the public’s eyes and ears and willingness to give statements and testify in court. Deputies need this cooperation from the public to get the evidence needed for arrests and prosecuting criminals.
Deputies served several search warrants and arrested a person of interest in the arsons on probation violations.
Deputies also recovered some of the property stolen in August and returned it to the owners.
Several deputies went through a three-day shotgun course to bring them up to date. The shotgun can be the most versatile and effective weapon in patrol units. Deputies received training for critical incident and hostage negotiations, both areas where deputies use talking to bring situations to a successful conclusion.
K-9 deputies continue to make good drug arrests off interdiction traffic stops.
