Incumbent congressman Frank Lucas best represents 3rd District interests in D.C.

ENID, Okla. — Frank Lucas has represented our area of Oklahoma in the U.S. House for some time now.

He started out in 1994 representing the 6th Congressional District and, after redistricting, now represents the 3rd Congressional District, an area covering the Panhandle, western Oklahoma and stretching to Washington County in the northeast. Enid is the largest city in the district.

It’s a largely rural district, where farming, ranching and energy are the main economic drivers. As such, it’s important that Lucas, a Republican from Cheyenne, has served on the House Agriculture Committee, and currently is chairman of the panel.

The military also factors into the equation, as the 3rd Congressional District is home to Vance Air Force Base and Altus Air Force Base.

In Tuesday’s election, Lucas is facing a challenge from two men, Democrat Timothy Murray, of Guthrie, and independent William Sanders, of Stillwater. We have no doubt Murray and Sanders are sincere men who believe they would be the best to serve the district, but we are throwing our support behind Lucas.

Our country is going to be facing some important times, and we believe the experience Lucas brings will better serve our area.

Our elected officials will face some tough decisions, many related to government spending, which has ballooned to levels we believe are unsustainable. We believe Lucas is in the best position to represent the 3rd Congressional District and its needs while also making fiscally responsible decisions for the entire country.

When you mark your ballot, we urge you to vote for Lucas.
