ENID, Okla. —
Wow! What a “mission accomplished” moment for Gov. Mary Fallin.
She stalled the vote, got her panel packed, will close both Northern Oklahoma Resource Center of Enid and Southern Oklahoma Resource Center in Pauls Valley, save a few bucks (maybe) and pretty much complete the dismantling of a Mental Health and Mental Retardation system Oklahoma had reason to be proud of.
And just think: Our most severely disabled and vulnerable citizens will have the opportunity to compete out in the community and succeed or not on their own. Is this a great state or what?
Probably not coincidentally, State Question 765 offers the chance to get rid of the Public Welfare Commission on Tuesday.
Hopefully, but not by any means certainly, that move and hard work by our legislators can provide an opportunity to turn this travesty around.
