ENID, Okla. —
I am very proud to live in Enid, and in general think the city officials do a good job in carrying out their civic duties. They are usually very responsive to the needs of the citizens.
However, I live in the 1900 block of West Maine, and during the past two years, I personally, and via a letter signed by everyone on the block, requested the city to repair or resurface this section of West Maine Street. These request have been made both in writing and by phone to the director of public works, Mr. McClain, and the mayor, the honorable Mr. Shewey.
This block is used not only by the people who live on this block, but also by a great number of people who drive up Maine and turn right on Grant to get to Broadway so they can cross the railroad tracks.
I realize there are many streets in Enid in need of repair, and priorities have to be set, but the time to respond to this request seems excessive.
