ENID, Okla. —
In last Saturday’s newspaper, someone wrote an editorial about the “turnout” of very few voters.
Well, that’s nothing new considering how this city is spending so much money on projects we don’t need.
Mr. or Mrs. Editor, when so many people are dissatisfied with the way decisions are made for this city and not doing “the will” of its citizens, then why do you expect a big “turnout” when voting time comes?
The old saying is “you can lead a horse to water, but you can’t make him drink.” How true.
What we really need is streets repaired, a survey for more drinking water, some new commissioners that will work for the good of the citizens and not for “pet projects” that cost so much money.
Remember, we don’t have a Canton Lake to drain when our water gets scarce.
What we don’t need is more parks, hotels and cement on every space for parking to attend any entertainment that’s going on. Yes, you say “plenty of parking,” but how far do we have to walk to reach any event?
Yes, I voted, but I knew it wouldn’t do any good. My candidate would have been a “good” commissioner. But we need more ones like he would have been.
The “coliseum” up north would accommodate most events. And the dollars it cost to attend these events are too high for the average citizen. I know we won’t attend any of those events at such high prices.
