Child care organizations and parents across the nation are joining together the today to celebrate Child Care Provider Appreciation Day.
Approximately 280 individuals in Garfield County are employed as licensed child care professionals, either in licensed family child care homes or centers. This is a special day to recognize child care providers, child care centers directors and staff, and all those who work with children in a variety of ways and assist with their care and education.
Every day, child care providers care for over 1,500 children in this county. By applauding the dedication of child care providers, we remind the community of the importance of high-quality child care and let providers know that we recognize and value their important work. I hope that parents utilizing child care will take time today to say thank you or send a card or a handwritten note of appreciation.
Enid’s child care industry supports businesses, workers and contributes to economic activity. A high quality child care system is a significant part of the infrastructure for economic development. CDSA’s Child Care Resource and Referral receives over 600 calls each year from families seeking child care. There are 45 family child care homes and 16 child care centers in Garfield County. When care is unaffordable, inaccessible or unavailable, communities and businesses suffer. Let’s not let this day go by without a special thank you to those who spend endless energy and countless hours caring for our children.
