Enid residents are asked to donate,

volunteer with Horn of Plenty Sunday

Horn of Plenty will have its Fall Food Drive 1-6 p.m. Sunday.

Last spring, Curves of Enid contributed 2,337 pounds of food. Their example provides a challenge. Just think, if 10 groups matched or surpassed Curves’ generous gift, along with the house-to-house collection, Horn of Plenty should be adequately supplied until the spring drive.

During the summer, Jumbo Foods hosted its annual golf tournament and donated a sizable amount of food to Horn of Plenty.

While the drive is aimed at collecting non-perishable food and household items, cash is especially welcomed this year. Cash received is used to assist member agencies who buy many much needed items from Oklahoma City Regional Food Bank at significantly discounted prices.

In a voucher program with United Supermarket-East, milk, margarine and bread are purchased. Monetary contributions may be mailed to Horn of Plenty, Box 5583, Enid, OK 73702, or give during the drive on Sunday.

The 21 cooperating churches and agencies serving our community have seen an increased number of those in need. The food supplied by Horn of Plenty has continued to be welcomed as a “Godsend” and the givers in our community are His messenger.

Volunteers always are needed and welcomed at the warehouse on the day of the drive to help unload, sort and shelve the items. The peak need is 3-6 p.m. Sunday at 16th and Randolph. God bless all for sharing in meeting the basic needs of others throughout our community.

Horn of Plenty Board wants to thank Enid and surrounding areas for their past contributions and continued support for those in need.
