Entrepreneurs should take advantage of many programs at Autry Technology Center

ENID, Okla. — Budding entrepreneurs would do well to consider working with Autry Technology Center.

Autry Tech is home to the James W. Strate Center for Business Development and also hosts programs, in conjunction with Grow Enid Inc., to help people just starting a business or who have started one in the past five years.

On Tuesday, Autry Tech held the first class in its Business Development Academy. Classes run 6-9 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays through Feb. 28.

The program helps participants learn the business basics, how to plan their business, market their business, create a brand, financial planning, accounting, financing and management.

The academy is presented by Autry Tech, Ward Petroleum, Joan and Paul Allen and sponsored by Enid Regional Development Alliance, Greater Enid Chamber of Commerce, Security National Bank and The Harris Foundation.

In addition, those enrolling will be able to participate in the Cherokee Strip Business Model Competition, with a chance to win up to $15,000.

Cherokee Strip Business Model Competition is designed to promote strategic planning and encourage testing and implementation of the plan.

Participants will be expected to prepare and present an initial business plan as an investment proposition that will attract customers not investment.

Prizes in the competition are $15,000 for first, $8,000 for second and $5,000 for third.

This is the kind of help new businesses need, and is a big reason why Autry Tech has such a great reputation.
