ENID, Okla. —
The people of Enid need to be commended.
They’ve again shown how big-hearted they are and how much they care about the community by helping United Way of Enid and Northwest Oklahoma top its fundraising goal.
United Way had set a goal of $700,000 for its annual campaign.
With the support of the community, United Way shot past that goal, raising more than $751,000.
A person only has to look at the agencies supported by United Way to see its reach in the community.
The 16 member agencies include: Booker T. Washington Community Center, Cimarron Council Boy Scouts, Cimarron Valley Chapter American Red Cross, Community Development Support Association, Consumer Credit Counseling of Central Oklahoma, Denny Price Family YMCA and Enid Community Clinic.
Others are: Enid Metro Area Human Services Commission, Garfield County Child Advocacy Council, Girl Scouts of Western Oklahoma, Hedges Regional Speech and Hearing Center, Legal Aid Services of Oklahoma, Retired Senior Volunteer Program, Salvation Army, YWCA of Enid and Youth and Family Services of North Central Oklahoma.
Those agencies touch a lot of people in the community, and through their work, do a lot of good, helping kids and helping people when they need assistance.
Accolades also are due United Way Executive Director Pamela Ballard and all the volunteers who worked with the campaign, particularly campaign co-chairs Tom and Jessica Andrew.
They did a wonderful job shepherding the effort and being so successful.
Good job, Enid.
