ENID, Okla. — I would like to know how more taxes and future expenses can improve the quality of life. By some definitions, monetary issues are considered “standard of living,” but “standard of living” is a subset of “quality of life.” The fact is, the less money spent on taxes, the more spent on life.

The PR people are trying hard to sway the issue. I see a small problem; PR is called public relations. there is no relationship involved, it is propaganda (vote the way I tell you to). Why are our city taxes paying for a public lobbyist?

One side of the mouth (PR) is talking conserve water, the other build an aquatic center (direct competition to private enterprise) and more parks that will need water and upkeep. Choose one way or the other, they are different. Improving the storm water system should have higher priority — save lives and property.

What we citizens need to know long-term is what happens when both the tax and bond get voted down! Will the project go forward? Our “city of Enid” bills increase? Been there, done that. Do not like it.

The way I see it, if you condone the veto-override and the $20 million Renaissance project with a soon-to-be $30 million cost override (they are not done yet), by all means, give the city more of our money.

On the other hand, if enough is enough and there is no reason to hand the city management another projected $50 million (bond and sales tax revenue) for a $21 million “quality of life” park project, vote down his whims on March 5.
