ENID, Okla. —
The City of Enid appreciates the opportunity to address the recent “sales tax” letter to the editor. When dealing with tax figures, it is important to cite a dependable source.
For the record, Enid is currently at 8.35 percent and has been since 2003. At the current sales tax, there are 393 communities in Oklahoma with higher sales tax rates than the city of Enid. In addition, if the Quality of Life bond proposal passes, then the City sales tax will increase to 8.85 percent as of July 1, 2013. Furthermore, there will still be 256 communities with a higher sales tax rate than the city of Enid.
The city of Enid relies on information and data which is compiled by Municipal Finance Services Inc., located in Oklahoma City. MFS serves as financial advisor to the city of Enid.
These sales tax rates were current as of October 2012.
