ENID, Okla. —
I applaud you and your staff for the Marian Opala First Amendment Award you received for opening another secret door.
I think it is important for our public officials to be reminded that secrecy is suspicious. We have sunshine laws to prevent “backroom deals.”
I wish your reporters would investigate Gov. Mary Fallin’s reasons for pushing the closure of the Northern Oklahoma Resource Center of Enid and the Southern Oklahoma Resource Center in Pauls Valley. It would be interesting to know if these proposed group homes would be contracted out, and to whom and the cost.
We also need to know why Superintendent Janet Barresi and Gov. Fallin came up with the plan for grading schools with A-F grades, who supplied the tests involved and the cost.
There are many questions that need to be answered. I appreciate your success so far, and look forward to more of the same.
