Letter: Thanking customers for supporting veterans

As a member of and a chaplain for the Northwest Oklahoma Chapter 66 of the Disabled American Veterans (DAV), it is my pleasure to serve at Golden Corral once again. Every year, Golden Corral makes it possible for us to hold the biggest fundraiser of our program year.

And because of their support, it makes it possible for us to serve the veterans of northwest Oklahoma. Our fine service officers make it possible for any disabled veteran — from World War II through the current veterans of Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom — to file a claim with the Department of Veterans Affairs.

When you enter Golden Corral, representatives of the DAV will greet you. As you enter, you will have the opportunity to contribute to our cause — a cause that continues to make it possible for America’s veterans to receive whatever continuing treatment may be necessary.

But there is one popular misconception about the DAV: The DAV receives absolutely no federal funds for its necessary mission. We operate only on the moneys that people contribute to us. So, when you go to Golden Corral during this veterans awareness mission, please feel free to ask us any questions.

Plus, your donation will help make it possible for veterans of all eras to receive the care and nurturing they deserve. The men and women of our nation’s military stood up on our behalf. The least we can do is to have their backs as they seek continuing reintegration into our society.

Thank you so much on behalf of Northwest Oklahoma DAV Chapter 66. Your assistance touches our veterans in a very personal way.

Edward E. “Sam” Justice, Enid
