Today is the day to play your role in the great drama of American democracy.
It is time once again to vote, to ensure your voice is heard in the only venue in which it really counts, the voting booth.
“Nobody will ever deprive the American people of the right to vote except the American people themselves and the only way they could do this is by not voting,” said Franklin D. Roosevelt.
The polls will be open today from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. City and county voters will have a number of ballot items to consider.
Enid voters will vote on a $99.45 million bond issue for Enid Public Schools. There are two questions on the ballot, the first involving construction and renovation of facilities and purchase of equipment. That one is for $98.6 million. The second is for $800,000 for transportation needs.
In Drummond, voters will choose between Richard A. Dominic and Robert “Bob” Moore for the school board.
Kevin G. Andersen and Christopher J. Stein are vying for the vacant seat on the Kremlin-Hillsdale Public Schools board.
Pond Creek-Hunter Public Schools patrons will pick between Gary Williams and Kris Grimes for that district’s vacant board seat, while Mulhall-Orlando Public Schools voters will choose between Tim Cameron and Amy G. Hurst to fill a board position in that district.
Much has been written and said about the Enid Public Schools bond issue in the past few weeks, on both sides of the issue. Now is the time to put your feelings into action. Standing on one side of one issue or another is fine, but it doesn’t mean much until you take the time to stand in a voting booth.
