- — Most of the articles I have seen on the upcoming vote on the school bond proposal has been positive, but few facts and figures were provided. One letter to the editor who wrote against the proposal provided a very convincing case to vote against it, giving details with facts and figures concerning the cost of materials and labor.
If I were to vote now based on the information I now have, I would vote against it.
But, I do not feel I have adequate information and a vote now without full knowledge and verification of the facts and figures would be unjustified.
I would like to see a full account of the material and labor costs for this proposal.
May I suggest the editors of the Enid News & Eagle assign a reporter to research this issue and present the facts and figures to the readers in an unbiased, balanced way, presenting both sides of the argument.
Yes, we love our children and we want the best educational opportunities and learning environment for them. But let us not be completely influenced by our emotions and ignore the costs. Let us look at this issue in a logical and calculated way. There is no doubt there is a need to improve our school facilities.
The Enid News & Eagle is the only source of local news and information for many readers, including myself.
An unbiased presentation of this issue will help the voters go to the voting booths with full and complete understanding concerning this proposal.
Let us not be surprised to find ourselves saddled with debt for years to come and find we have made certain contractors rich by over paying for materials and labor.
Please provide us with a balanced assessment of this vital issue.
Let’s keep our beloved city fiscally healthy and provide our children with good educational opportunities and a good learning environment as well.
